While I'm mainly familiar with the 2000 and not the 1600, there are some
commonalities in the hoses. The radiator hoses would have to be
slip-on/hose clamp arrangements, as would the attachments to the heater
valve and core. The fittings coming out of the engine could be replaced
with the "proper" hose ends. The fuel lines could probably be converted, too.

I chose to go with the dress-up kit on mine for now, but have been
pondering doing the full conversion in the future.
