Wow - initially it sounds like you've got yourself a find! Condition
is (almost) everything, of course, but a solex 2L for under a grand -
DEFINITELY needs checking out!

I assume you're not in the Northern California area :-)

A couple of quick notes - I'm sure you'll get lots of advice from
others..

Depending on what state you're in, make sure it has the necessary
smog equipment.

Depending on what state you're in, make sure the DMV paperwork is in order.

Of course, for parts ALONE, this is probably worth getting. As parts
the paperwork doesn't matter much.

If it's sat for 10 years, the brakes are almost certainly shot. About
$800 to replace all the hydraulics.

The overheating may be because the head was shaved too much. That
could be bad :-(. I'd recommend a compression check, BUT I wouldn't
crank that engine without some prep work first! Spin it after 10
years without bringing up oil pressure first, and you may do in the
bearings...

Take a good, realistic look at it. I'm still learning that only
'slightly' broken is still broken :-). It's got some nice carbs - but
if they're thrashed, it doesn't much matter. Flat spot on that nice
B camshaft? You might as well have a rusty metal bar.. My point is,
be objective. Make sure you have something to work with. Be objective,
and be cynical.

Then, in all likelihood, congratulate yourself on discovering a
great find! I'm jealous!

Good luck and keep us posted,
