Depends on how crazy you are and how safe you want to be. Stock wheel is
only 4.5" wide. Even with only a 175/70 on it, the sidewall will stick out
almost an inch on each side of the wheel. This won't give much sidewall
stiffness, so steering response will be mushy (comparatively). Plus, most
people who go this route are more into soft ride than cornering, so they
run lower tire pressure, which makes things even worse. If you go too far
this way (wide tire/narrow rim/low pressure) you run the risk of rolling
the bead off the rim in a hard maneuver, like an avoidance maneuver. I
consider it unsafe.
