would it be over-simplifying to say

3.75 : Triumph pattern
4.00 : Ford pattern ?

Interestingly the Series 4 Seven uses the same triumph upright as the
Europa, but was generally fitted with Ford (4.00) hubs. I bought a set of
Brand Lotus alloys from a dealer last year stating they were for a 7s4 -
they arrived for a 3.75 pcd stud pattern. When I pointed out that they
wouldn't fit my car he said that as far as he knew, Brand Lotus wheels were
only ever made for 3.75 pcd. As the alloys were definately an optional
extra for the 7s4 this means either that the cars left the factory with
different hubs depending on the wheels specified or he's wrong.

I've never found an answer to this one and my car currently has a set of
original minilites on it instead but I'd be interested if anyone can shed
light on this.
