This is a (slightly edited) cross-post, from Kitracers. I found the =
discussion of
Arthur Mallock and his cars interesting, so I thought that I would =
forward this to
chapman-era.

Last model was a Mallock MPR32 I think. Faster than an F3000 using the =
same
engine and a live rear axle.

Yep

The old U2 is still built in NZ, as a replica!

Ray Mallock now builds demonly fast Vauxhall 2 litre touring cars for =
the factory
team in the UK series.

Wow, thanks Liam. That is really fascinating. Funny, how Arthur Mallock =
keeps
popping up, in these discussions.

A wobl link is just another system for locating a live rear axle. With =
the advent of
independent rear suspension and De Dion rear ends it didn't make sense to =
do
any further development on live rear axles.
However some classes of racing insist on using live rear axles. Most peopl=
e still
employ old technology to locate live rear axles such as rudimentary twin =
trailing
arms and Panhard rods.
The smarter guys kept on developing live rear axle systems. Undoubted the =
Guru in live axles is Arthur Mallock (Unfortunately he died last year). =
Arthur
Mallock built the worlds fastest live rear axle cars. In England on their =
smooth
tracks his live rear axle cars consistently out performed independent =
systems!
His company invented the Wob link and other advanced systems (TAM 1, =
TAM2,
TAM 3) for live rear axles.
