Ok, if you are familiar with the Mark 7, the Mark 8 is the same car but with
a one-piece windshield and some trim differences. The Mark 9 is the Mark 8
with a bigger engine, power steering,  and disc brakes.
The Mark 10 was a major restyle, much lower and with independent rear
suspension.

There are dozens of good books on Jaguars. For coverage of the saloons
specifically I might suggest "Jaguar Saloon Cars" by Paul Skilleter, with the
disclaimer that I have not actually read it myself.

Most mechanical and electrical parts are shared with the sports models, which
are well enough supported by dozens of aftermarket suppliers. New interior
kits are available but at a high cost. For body and trim parts, there are
still some guys stripping out parts cars that advertise in Hemmings.

>4) How do they compare in handling and power with the Mark II?

Naturally worse because of their size, though the Mark 10's IRS is certainly
a plus. But, believe it or not, the Mark 7 was actually a pretty good car in
racing and rallying.

>5) Do they have the poor ventilation/heating systems typical of 1960s Jags?

About as good as a lot of 50's American cars. Presumeably you wouldn't be
using such a car in winter.
