No, he didn't. The Moke was produced by BMC as a military vehicle
based on the Mini! It has a platform chassis and the bare essentials
in terms of eqiupment and then Mini subframes carrying the
mechanicals. Its low ground clearance made it unsuitable for
military use and it subsequently became a fashionable utilitarian
vehicle for use as a summer posemobile. They were originally made in
the UK, before production moved to Australia? and then Portugal.
Rover stopped making them a few years ago and they are now made
somewhere or other by some one else! Perhaps the most interesting
Moke was the Twinni Moke, a Moke with a complete engine/transmission
unit at both ends! I have a picture of one of these loaded with
bales of straw, reversing up a snow covered bank and taking off at
the top! They also built a couple of Twini-Mini's for rallying, but
Leonard Lord killed that one.
