Probably since the gears in Sprite/Midget gearboxes come from
Mini transmissions, which run in the engine sump. I assume the gears,
bearings, clearances, etc were designed and tested with motor oil in mind.
Also, high pressure? Sprites don't have enough HP for high pressure... ;-)
They do use gear oil in the rear axle, BTW, so it wasn't availability.
On another note, I heard an interesting song today: MGB-GT, by
Richard Thompson, off his most recent album, Mirror Blue. It has lines
like "MY MGBGT she's a runner now", and "looks like a dream in her racing
green". :-) Also mentions of Alpines and Healeys and probably others.
Sounds like he should be on this list... Ah, the advantages of a _good_
public radio station (WXPN, the UPenn station in Philadelphia). Now, time
to head off to the CD store. :-)
