I have been uncharacteristically silent about this. Mostly because I
didn't want to fan the flames, but ...

Perspective time. The attempt to create "rec.autos.british" is the
right of Mr. de Souza or anybody else. All Berry or I could do is vote
against it in the proper newsgroup.

Right. A gateway would be disaster.

As I say: That is not something that gets voted on here.

No. Never. No way. If I want to post to a newsgroup, I will. I don't
want this mailing list forwarded, either.

Neither one is acceptable, IMHO

> If that happens, I'm outta here.

Well, maybe people WANT to get rid of me. But here are the basic facts. I
used "IMHO" above. Let me tell you why my Opinion is Humble. This list is
not a democracy. It is a dictatorship with Mark as our benevolent dictator.
He does the work. He makes the rules.

1. Mark has stated that he does not want to hook up with any newsgroups.
2. Such a newsgroup does not yet exist anyway.

For these two reasons, continuing this discussion is pointless. People
who want a newsgroup should try to start one. But you don't try to start
it here.
