I don't think there is a problem with this. I belong to another mailing list
having to do with a commercial software product. A representative of the
vendor participates, much as you describe. (They get to the internet via
applelink, btw!) There has never been a problem that I'm aware of; sometimes
he gets a bit beat up over the companies policies, but this _is_ the internet.
I say "Go for it!" It is probably not appropriate to place orders over the
internet (I'm _certainly_ not going to put my credit card # on the net in any
way, shape, or form!) but I think their participation in a "technical
discussion" is appropriate!
