I wandered out into the old garage last night, intending to endow my
Spitfire with a rebuilt clutch master cylinder... alas, no joy.
I got the circlip and the plunger out, but couldn't get the bloody
piston out of the master cylinder. Haynes offers no advice on how to
do this... they tell you how to get the cylinder off the car, remove
the boot, remove the circlip, and then jump right into disassembling
the piston.
I tried to rap the cylinder sharply on a hard surface, and I also
tried to use my air compressor to blow the thing out (cap on
reservoir, apply air pressure through the hole where the pipe
attaches).
I'm sure someone out there's done this... dozens of times, even...
any advice for me?
Thanks!
Eric
