I received a slew of suggested alternatives to 3M Trim Adhesive to stick
down leather trim pieces, which I intend to look into. Thanks, all. I
do have one general comment about contact cement type adhesive. There
are some on the market made with water soluble glues. These are
probably okay for around the house use indoors but I suspect they
wouldn't work very well for car upholstery.

On master cylinder honing: my personal opinion is that if the MC is
cast aluminum, the best course of action is to toss it and get a new
one. If you plan to hone it anyway, the standard type hone available at
most auto parts stores take off too much metal for use on aluminum. You
need a special, very fine hone. It might be possible to use a standard
hone wrapped with very fine sandpaper or emery cloth. I only offer this
as a suggestion, I've never tried myself. I buy new. If it's a very
expensive MC, you might want to look into getting it re-sleeved
with brass or perhaps stainless steel.
