I had a '65 TR4A that I could drive at 70 mph and the engine
would just quit. I would coast to the side of the road and turn the ignition
and it would not start. I finally discovered that if I would turn the
ignition key off wait about 5 seconds and then turn it back on and drop
...the engine would start. When I was on a freeway I would just push
in the clutch, turn the ignition key off, coast for 5 seconds, turn the
key on, drop the clutch and continue on. George Deveau (on the net) bought
the car from me, changed fuel pumps and the problem went away. Old
English houses sometimes have ghosts; perhaps some of their cars also
have ghosts.
