Morse commented on that in an earlier episode where he and Louis
are sitting in the MK II, watching the villain loading his luggage
into a black late-model XJ-40 Sovereign (would it be called a
series IV XJ-6?). In an off-hand comment, Morse says, "Those new
models, they've got no class." It had kind of a false tone to it.
Those with a sharp eye and a rewind/pause on the VCR will notice
that the red Jaguar in the shown in the opening introduction is not
a MK-II, but an S-Type with the frenched headlamps, no fog-lights
and the front turn signals formed into the lower corner of the
wings.
