Yessiree-0 spring is *almost* here in NH, and yesterday I unbuttoned
the spitfire, put the carb back on, checked for mice, cranked it up, and
was off for a semi-legal drive. Ahh- the wind, the sun in my eyes, the
feeling of not going very fast, but having a hell of a lot of fun doing it...
This is so much nicer than the big electirc everything winter car!!!!!!

Putting the carb on got me to thinking; my catylatic converter is shot-
the honeycomb has long since rattled it's way to who knows where. Plus,
the flange is all bent up, doesn't seal correctly, and the exhaust manifold
has a huge crack (this and the bent flange are bot related to the manhole cover
which I clipped..) I would like to put a header on it- which is far far
cheaper than a new spitfire cat (albiet illegal), and possibly put a cat
from another car (yet to be determined) downstream of this. I would like to
keep the air pump also, but all the headers I have seen have no hole
for the air pipe. Am I out of like for finding on pre-built like
this??? (out of luck I should say...) I don't have the welder I have been
lusting after, so this would be one more hassle to go through to put
an air pipe fitting on. Cats for other cars can run as low as 100$,
compared to the 400$> for the oem piece- plus it can be a lot smaller-
 Has anyone attempted this???
