   OEM GASKET COMPOUNDS
My Triumph manuals specify using "Wellseal" jointing compound to seal the
main bearing end-caps. Now, I see that TRF offers genuine "Wellseal"
compound. But somehow I can't help but think that there's something just as
good amidst all the gasket goops at the local parts store. Does anybody know
what the modern replacement for "Wellseal" would be?

Also, the book recommends sealing the rear oil seal ( this is the all-metal
kind that works by magic ) with shellac. Should I go down to the store and get
me a bottle of "Indian Head gasket shellac" or would a skin of silicone work as
well?
