Use a water pump gasket, that is, don't make your own. The thickness is critical. Too thick the pump won't work, too thin the impeller may hit the block or the pump won't work. Clean all surfaces very thouroughly. Lightly go over them with 80 grit sandpaper. Apply a thin, even coat of Permatex #2 and tighten the bolts evenly in 3 or 4 steps to make sure the pressure is even. That should do it. |
