Thought I'd add my comments to the list of british parts suppliers....
The section on "Triumph Specialties" was not nearly strong enough. These
people not only overcharge their customers twice to x-times what a part is
worth, they also treat them like sh*t! I would let my TR rust into the ground
before I buy anything from these people!
The section on ordering parts from Britain was very interesting, I have done
the same for my Norton Commando, and parts from there typically cost 1/2 what
they cost locally, even factoring in the shipping costs. Does anybody know
of a british supplier of TR parts? BTW, ordering from there is very simple if
the vendor is set up for telephone credit-card sales: just call'em up with
all the info close to hand, give'm the magic number, and the credit-card people
automatically do the currency exchange. I've found that if I call before 7:00
AM here, I can make a $100 order for maybe $2.50 for the telephone call. If
you have the stuff air-mailed, it will arrive in about two weeks, but that's
VERY expensive.
Lately I heard a very disturbing rumor: that Moss motors is setting
themseelves up as a monopoly in the Brit-car parts market, by buying up all the
sources... Does anybody know anything about this, or was my source just
blowing smoke?
