The problem is the weight of the door. Where would you hang the counter
balance? The counter balance weight for each door would have to be hung on the
opposite side of each doors fulcrum point . And would have to be very heavy. A
steel edged full fiberglass or carbon fiber door would be great. But would have
to be a custom build and fit for that car. Ball screw jacks and gas filled rams
are about your only options. And a manual handle latch and lock system would
not be that hard to fab. Or use the factory set up with a remote fired solenoid
system .
