I haven't tried cleaning the insulation, but, while your radiator is out, this
is a good time to clean the engine compartment. In particular, you can clean
oil and dirt from the front of the engine and from the AC condenser. Also
straighten any bent fins on the condenser.
If your fan belts are old, there will never be an easier time to get at them
for changing. It would also be a good time to put on a new water pump. If yours
is original, the seals may be near the end of their life. High flow water pumps
are available that are supposed to cool better than stock.
