OK. I mainly responded to the myth you posted that FI was in and of itself
superior to a properly applied carb. Take away the electronics, and with a
relatively inexpensive system you have a poor running '57 fuelie Chevy (7-10
mpg). Spending big bucks for a gear pump system, such as on the M-B 300SL,
would improve it back to the best carb installs. The only advantage to it
was it never needed tuning, just a periodic $500! (in 1962 $$) pump rebuild.
All you need is a decent choke on a carb. Only direct port injection has any
real advantage over the other systems AFAIK.
