Are you surprised? Profiling is a necessary result of any attempt to
prosecute victimless "crimes". Without any victim to report the "crime" or
to provide any description of the "criminals", the police have little choice
but to poke around on their own, looking for "violations".
Reason magazine recently had an interesting article on this, talking about
case probability vs. class probabilty and stuff like that. However, it's
probably of interest only to idealists. . .
