Okay, now that we've thought of these brilliant ideas, how do we implement
them? It's one thing to talk about it on a computer. Usually, this stuff is
decided at Steering Committee meetings. I haven't been to one of those in
years, and I won't be going soon. The south bay is impossible for me
midweek.

I'd do corner station markers before the vests. No one's going to want to
wear them, I'll bet you anything, especially when it starts getting hot. At
minimum, we'll just lose them.

Station markers, though, no one has to wear them, and they just sit there on
course, like tombstones. I mean, like buoys. Where do you get them? Anyone?

I think you are on to something here.  How about having 2 different colors
of vests, green AND orange?  We can alternate colors in each run group.  We
can send the greens out to relieve oranges and vice versa.

One way to aid changeover is to make cornerworkers
wear one of those bright green/orange safety vests.
This is a good thing from a safety perspective
(cornerworking is dangerous) and would allow new
cornerworkers to identify who needs relieving. When
the new worker arrives, they take the old workers
vest. And the now hard to see old worker runs across
the track back to the pits and gets killed ... oh well
it seemed like a good idea when I started typing this.
