The April Fastrack contains the minutes from the SEB's marathon meeting at
the National Convention earlier this month.
<http://www.scca.com/news/tech/fastrack/04-04-fastrack.pdf>
It includes a number of items of interest:
(1) In the BOD minutes: "The final discussion was on the continuous effort
to abide by and further improve the rules season. The BoD agreed to allow
more items to be approved for the following year during the October
conference call, extending the possibility to make rules changes after Solo
II Nationals."
(2) The BOD has already approved this and it is already effective:
Replace 1.2 Revision of the Solo I and Solo II Rules with,
"The SCCA may revise these rules or issue supplements to
them at any time, via Tech Bulletins in Sports Car or the
official SCCA Website. All supplements will have a
published effective date."
Together, these two items help quicken the pace of rule changes and
extend the rules season, which many of you have been clamoring for.
(3) Effective immediately, a change in the recommended bumping order.
(4) Request for comment regarding mementos.
(5) Request for comment on the burden of proof and required documentation.
Note especially the required documentation for update/backdate.
(6) A sound control subcommittee has been formed.
(7) 2004 Nationals course designers have been selected.
(8) Comments and recommendations on possible AS and BS moves.
(9) Request for member comment on upper shock mounts in ST.
(10) STS2 and STU, which you've already heard about.
(11) Request for comment on several SP class moves and line changes.
(12) Request for comment on unlimited wheel/tire sizes in Prepared.
(13) Request for comment on fuel injection and carburetion in Prepared.
(14) Comments about weight formulae for Prepared and reorganization for
DP and EP.
(15) Request for comment on rule changes for safety items in AM/BM/CM/FM.
(16) Request for comment on fuel injection in some BM cars.
(17) Request for comment on standardized wing area computation
for all categories.
(18) Commentary and request for comment on offering Formula Junior
classes at Nationals, and the authority of the Youth Steward position.
(19) Brief commentary on a number of member letters.
(20) Several tech bulletins offering rule interpretations.
(21) Several tech bulletins with new car classifications.
And more.
Write a letter! The process for sending letters to the Solo Events Board
is outlined in the Foreword of the rulebook (after the copyright, before
the table of contents).
