The SCCA is no longer approving ANY Street Solo events. Any reference
to them has been -- or will be -- removed from the rulebook.

As I understand it, that was NOT an SCCA-sanctioned event. However, it
still casts a pall upon Street Solos. We had already decided to pull
the plug on our events before that happened.
I co-chaired two highly-successful Street Solos here in Shreveport in
'89 and '90 -- when I was still a relatively green SSS. The first was
incident-free except for one car that slid sideways into a turn and
smacked a tire stack, launching a couple of the tires 30-feet into the
air. The second was also incident-free except for one Datsun Z car with
Ferrari body cladding that smacked a curb with the left rear tire and
knocked the whole rear end about 6-inches out of alignment. Video from
that second event gave Pete Lyon serious heartburn when he saw it during
the opening night reception at the Milwaukee National Convention several
years ago. Looking back, with what I know now, I've got serious
heartburn about it as well!
