Sean-
I have dreamed for years of winning a trophy at Nationals... But to no
avail. I would put my wife and friends through an agonizing 30 to 45
minutes while I suffered a complete "sense-of-humor failure" after my last
run. The disapointment every year was crushing. It was all I could do to
live with the depression... I couldn't afford shock treatments, so I had
to go to Wal Mart and lick the 9V batteries. Like Roger (Baaa!) Johnson, I
almost became a Woolite addict. Fortunately, that cheap beer JK has in his
fridge costs less than Woolite, so I switched. Listening to the $@#%^&
announcer repeating the same old, tired, trite, cliche'd, and NOT FUNNY
British car jokes almost became the highlight of the week. (Not really...
I've heard 'em before.) I was on the verge of being suicidal... Well,
almost... I did walk up behind Dick Berger and say "Go ahead, make my
day!" Things were looking dark... And not just because my car has Lucas
headlights...
But now... At last, thanks to Team Underdog, I have found relief from all
this pressure. You have helped me set a more realistic life-goal for my
autocrossing career. Now, I've decided that my goal at Nationals is to
become famous enough to be parodied in the Team Underdog skit.
(You know, "When all else fails, lower your standards.")
