Hi Matt. Midwest Council rules the immediate area with their autocrossing
program. Laid back, low pressure events, nice people, but different rules.
Serious Solo can be found in Milwaukee, about an hour away. Well worth the
trip as Miller Park is IMO one of the best sites anywhere, and many
nationally competitive drivers run there. High speed Solo1 type events are
also offered by Midwest Council at Blackhawk Farms. Fun.

Yes, when a SCCA STS legal car gets put into their "Prepared" category
against monster-built cars, yeah, their rules ar a little "different".
Apparently even the mention of the SCCA is enough to draw ominous stares
around those parts. ;^)
Their high speed autocrosses are definitely a blast. My STS, and
underpowered, legal Neon topped out at a little less than 100 mph, just into
4th gear for about 5 seconds, in two places on the track. Except for those
two places most of the track was taken from mid/high-2nd gear to mid-3rd
gear, or about 50-75 mph in my car.
