It sounds like Eric went a wee bit into overkill mode on his trailer. Some
flex is good.
I have one of the 4x8 variants from Harbor Freight. They happen to be on
sale right now for 199 with free shipping. Mine has been modified to be 5
feet wide in order to pull a T-87 Red Devil. It tows great, is very
lightweight and is still sprung a little too stiff with a 650 lb
(approximate) car on board. Mine is now 5 years old, with regular bearing
maintenance it should work great. I think that simple tack welding after
final assembly would tighten up the frame a bit. Mine has also towed 2 moose
out of the deep woods on crappy, rough dirt roads.
