After reviewing digest #511:
-At one time, there were FOUR Rogers Johnson autocrossing.
(Beat that, Engstrom!) I have lost track of two of them, one
fewer than I need to.
-Dave W's "Speed Creep" explanation falls just a hint short
of what some of us might have provided as a definition. . . . .
surprising since he has been around this stuff for a LONG
time too!
IMO, SC refers to the fact that over the past 25 or so years
of Solo II activity, speeds have gradually and slowly increased
from what was often 1st gear stuff is now touching 3rd. Sometimes.
There are certainly exceptions, as Rocky pointed out regarding
the First National Championship Event. . . . . but overall, the
average course speed is higher now than it was in 1975.
Not making ANY kind of judgment here, whether it is good
or bad - just the observation that it has generally and inexorably
"crept" up.
