OK, I don't own a Vette, can't afford one and will be lucky to get to two
solo's this year so I have no real interest in this, just idle curiosity.
I seem to recall that last year when the Z06 was announced there was a long
debate here about how competitive it would be compared to the older C4's and
other C5 models. From memory opinions were divided with the detractors
saying that the extra power was negated by the loss in low end torque
compared to other models. Well it looks to be doing well this year although
it's sometimes hard to tell from the official results if a car is a regular
Vette or a Z06, but the on the fly results posted here indicate that all the
top Vette's are Z06's.
So, what's the verdict? Is the Z06 a killer or is it just that those with
the money for a new car are buying Z06's and the truth is that any C5 would
be just as good. Also what's the thought on C4's vs. C5's? Are the C4's
dead and buried until the potential re-shuffle puts them in a separate
class.
As I said, just idle curiosity as I have no dog in this fight.
Thanks
