Just because a shift light was supposedly given the green light (snicker) in
the past does not mean you couldn't protest it and have it disallowed/DSQ.
Generally, such items are given a disclaimer, "pending further information at
a later time". A quick review of Appendix G Clarifications does not have an
entry specifically allowing rev/shift indicators for Stock, so such a
decision would be pending further information supplied to a PC with possible
recourse of an appeal to the SEB, as per my previous post.

PC and SEB are comprised of experienced participants. I don't see any such
individual having difficulty with understanding that avoiding an over-rev can
prevent a tenth or two addition in time. I don't believe a shift light
addition/modification in Stock meets the wording of the Stock rules. It is
certainly not as benign as say, a turbo boost or oil pressure indicating
gauge. It's sole intent is to prevent a driving skill error, which is in
direct conflict with the primary basis of the sport. If I was on the PC and
this came across the table it most likely would not have my support, pending
further information.... :-)
