Yep, the new M3 is not competitive with the Z06 Vette.  Way too heavy.
The Z8 would be more competitive with the Z06... but of course, the Z8
was bumped right out of Stock (just as the M3 LTW was).  Check out the
November Motor Trend... the Z06 Vette beat the Z8 by a little bit in
every single category... every one.  And the Z8 is heavier than the
Vette, so even the Z8 would likely be uncompetitive against the Vette;
yet its off to ASP with the Z8.

The M5 will also have no prayer against the Vette -- its much heavier
than even the fat new M3 -- and it is clearly much inferior to the Z8.
Both will be about as competitive as the 328 was in BS in past years (not
at all); or the M3 in CSP (not at all).

It seems unfortunate that BMWs, being so much fun to drive, are constantly
classed with much smaller cars where they aren't competitive at all.  Its
no wonder that the BMW club autocrossers spit at the mention of SCCA.
