Why? If someone won D Stock with an ECU that appeared to be legal in every
physical way, and responded to Chrysler's diagnostics in a normal
fashion... how would you prove that it was not legal? And at what
expense? With the number of brilliant minds in this sport... a great
number of them computer programmers and/or electronic engineers, I think
this is a very real possibility.

Again, at what expense? I don't know how many different tests are
available, but I have heard that most pump fuels fail the tests that SCCA
Club Racing is currently using. Pretty much rules that particular test
out. And I have no doubt that, just like the tire engineers can engineer a
cheater tire that is undetectable, chemical engineers can do the same with
fuel.

There is more than that much variance between the top 3 or 4 current tires
used in STS. If that's all you're worried about, relax.

FYI, someone (not me) accidentally cross-posted this topic to the ST list.
It's being kicked around as we speak. A lot of people didn't like the spec
tire idea. The STR guys are insisting that R-tires are the only way to go
for a National class. (of course, they would say that, they're trying to
save their class from certain death) Haven't heard any really good ideas
other than to just not worry about it.
