Great! Let's start with the high dollar Michilin Pilots that some folks
have paid a premium for, had them shaved to the max, and won major events.
I don't think there is an effecient way to police "ringer" DOT tires not
currently on the exclusion list. Personally, I like STS, and would like to
see it added to National events as a regular category, but the tire
exclusion list needs to be monitored constantly. Maybe a return to 3 or
4/32 tread rule is in order. Or perhaps a 5/32 rule measured in tech before
runs begin, and anything less than 3/32 at impound is disqualified...just a
thought.
