Some of you may have been at Nationals the year that all of the
Canadians
present at the Nationals sang their anthem themselves. 1986 or 88 I
think?
They changed the words (because they could not remember the real ones),
and while not singing in complete unison, one
could still hear & understand references to sheep, etc. (This was done
at
the Wednesday banquet - both anthems, color guard, prayer, etc.)

MD>FWIW, The Canadian anthem was not played Tues North/Wed South. I had
MD>origianlly dubbed the cassette for SCCA, with both anthems in 1995 for
MD>Nationals. And we played both. I did ask this year if the Canadian Anthem
MD>should be aired. The response was no (gotta get those cars running :^) ).
MD>I'm sure we could get real nuts and play the Anthems of every country
MD>represented, but then Nationals might be two weeks long. :^)

MD>Matt Murray
MD>I don't remember hearing either anthem at all on Thurs South/Friday North.
MD>------------------------------------------------------------------------
MD>If it is, I say cut that minute out by omitting the Canadian
MD>National Anthem every morning. Sing along with me, "Oh, Canada.
MD>Who really gives a damn..." Apologies to Dennis Grant and you
MD>other hosers.....
