I'm looking for a big front bar for our '99 Miata, which is primarily
a street car but occasionally an autocrosser. It's not that much fun
to autocross as it is, because it's an absolute handful.
I see a couple of different bars out there. I think I want to go BIG,
especially given that the next SportsCar will include a tech
bulletin that says:
> 2) Stock: Substitute sway bar mounts (brackets) are permitted under
> 13.7.A, but lateral members which tie them together are not.
(See http://www.scca.org/news/tech/seb/7-25-00.html).
So what's the conventional wisdom on bars for a '99 Miata? Are there
concerns about torn brackets for these cars, and a good fix?
Also, is there a preferred upper strut tie bar? My car doesn't have
one (it's a leather package, not a sport) and the factory Miata one
doesn't look that good (I'm not wild about the brackets that mount to
the towers).
I've read bunches on the net, primarily at www.miata.net, but I
figured you folks would have the inside scoop.
Thanks!
Mark
