I work for a Bridgestone/Firestone dealer. They have not recalled the tires
but anyone running on those tires are encouraged to go to an authorized
Bridgestone/Firestone dealership to have the tires inspected. The notice we
received says "As part of our long-standing customer satisfaction program,
customer who would like to exchange their tires will be given a credit
toward new tires, based on the remaining life of the tires. In fact, any
issues or concerns following the inspection will be remedied to each
customer's satisfaction."
Bridgestone claims that the group trying to get the recall is a
profit-making firm that is trying to win product liability lawsuits.
If I hear anything more on this issue I will let you all know.

Subject: Re: Firestone SUV Tires Major Failures, recall
1/2 hr after the radio station announced the recall,
they came back on with a correction. It is Sears that
is pulling the tires from the shelfs and NOT a
Firestone recall. I bet the person who wrote that news
story has trouble coming.
