I agree with both of you. BSP is always open if you want to compete and soak up
the atmosphere.
These cars are trickling into delaerships. To allow this car to compete would
be a diservice to SS. Why? Because some people can't get there hands on one
yet. Even though it will end up in SS, the availablity of the car right now is
very tight.
The SS might let you run WITH SS in a provisional manner (aka Stu Rulka) even
though the car isn't legal yet. You won't be listed in the official results but
who cares, right?

i sure hope they find a place for you to run - this will be my first nats as
well and have been wanting to go now for almost 3 years. personally i would
not care if it went into SS as it seems it's going to end up there anyway.
but let's say (just to play devil's advocate) the seb allowed the car to
compete SS/2000 and you flat out KILL SS. i suspect more than a few people
would be a tad upset that the car did not get a fair evaluation with a
season of racing.
good luck

Subject: Z06 - Can I Play?
OK. I just picked up a 2001 Z06 this past weekend. I have been planning on
going to Nationals, but now this talk about it not being "legal" surfaces.
I'm not worried too much about classification right now, but I'd still like
to participate in my first Nationals event. Can I at least participate,
even though I may not be eligible? I'd hate to miss out on my first
Nationals because of this. This is the first year that I've been able to
make plans to go and I've been looking forward to it all year.
I had no idea that new cars weren't permitted at Nationals. Looks like I
jumped the gun.
By the way, this car is not a new model. Since 1999 there have been three
models of Corvettes: a coupe, a convertible and a hardtop. So, the hardtop
model has been produced for two years. Admittedly, there weren't many
buyers for the hardtop. Why give up all that space without an increase in
performance? Now, the Z06 is a regular production option (RPO) that is only
available on the hardtop. Lastly, GM has decided that all hardtops will
include the ZO6 option.
See ya!
