i can't find a good way to do math in HTML. there's been a lot of noise
about something called "MathML", but last time i tried it, it was inadequate
in a bunch of ways. the number of people who want to do typeset mathematics
in documents is so small that the support software, if you can find it at
all, is crufty, buggy, nasty, outdated, and .... well, you get the point.
