Metal Masters were never offered as a race quality brake pad. It is
considered among the best of the high performance street pads. I would
expect that under the severe braking of track use they would in fact
crumble, although we do have many customers who do use them for autocrossing
and driver schools.

If those are the old Axxis/Repco Metal Masters re-badged
with a Stillen name, STAY AWAY... they are crap on the
track, even with ducting. You can literally make the pad
material crumble away from the backing plate (eating
your rotors in the process).

I've been using Stillen Metal Matrix pads with stock rotors on my Saturn
for
a couple of months now, and I'm very happy with them. Better than OEM
stopping power, harder to lock up, and no dust buildup. I haven't had
them
on the track yet (tough to get track time in a New England winter) but
from
what I've heard they continue to perform better than stock there as well.
Not as good as race-only pads, of course, but an excellent all around
pad,
IMHO.
