I'm just now getting into this...

Power isn't so much the issue until you bring in the fact that ESP DSMs
are ALL WHEEL DRIVE, and they have an INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION to boot.
Now all of a sudden you can put down all that power without a problem.
You can't do that in an f-body because of the solid axle. On top of that,
a DSM weighs quite a bit LESS than an f-body's average of 3500-3700 lbs.
So if you have 80 hp less, and weigh 500+ lbs less, AND can put all that
power down, I sure don't see the disadvantage of having to run the turbo
you car came with. The rules state that powertrain update/backdates must
be done as a whole unit. The turbo is part of the motor, therefore if you
want to backdate, do the whole motor. It really is no different than us
having to put in a whole LT4. FWIW, I think that's baloney too because the
LT4 was not a factory-installed option in an f-body, therefore it
shouldn't be allowed at all.

Yeah it does. Here we have a rule aimed directly at one car and allowed
by the SEB, yet they refuse our SFC request claiming that they don't want
a rule that applies to only one car. Sounds pretty hipocritical to me.

So... in that light, the rule makes no sense. I see it this way... IMO,
keep the turbo rule and move the DSMs to ASP where they belong. OR, keep
the rule and give us SFCs. Or, lose the turbo rule and we stay where we
are.
