My biggest beef with Kumho DOT race tires is the weight. I'm already
weighed down by my lack of driving skill :-(, I don't need a boat anchor
hanging off each corner too. However, they do offer a very good
value/performance ratio, which is a great benefit for the majority of
competitors who are on limited budgets. I also thought that Mike Taylor at
CUT represented Kumho very well, but ended up on the short end of the stick.
While I appreciate all that Tire Rack has done for our sport, I'm personally
concerned that they are slowly eliminating the independent service suppliers.
I don't see any Tire Rack trucks providing service support at the events. I
also know of quite a few horror stories that end with "that's the setup the
guy at Tire Rack told me to use for these tires". The independent service
suppliers tend to be more informed about proper setup, because they're the
ones at the events getting their hands dirty with competitor feedback.
