Ooooooooh! OK! Here we go Per! The ES GT is significantly faster than the
ST. It's got more hp, torque, better gearing, wider wheels, only 1 catalytic
convertor on the 94's vs 2 on all ST's and benefits from exhaust changes
better. It's slightly heavier but also has a stiffer chassis due to the
stock strut brace and has better brakes with disks in the rear.
ES and HS ran on different days last year and that makes comparison between
them tougher since the concrete was breaking up badly throughout the day and
refilled every night or early morning essentially making the surface
different for each day.
Basically the GT is the better ES car right from the beginning and has the
ability to beat the ST at every event. The ST is truly an HS car and will
virtually disappear from competition when it goes to ES. It's a shame that
such a nice car will go to the netherworld of "used to be competitive" cars.
Now some people would argue that it's faster in Topeka so that must mean it
should get reclassed. That means they're setting the rules for car classing
based on one event and one location.
