Could it be that it is a 1986 Honda?  :)  I have an 87 Civic DX that
blows a little out the pipe too.  (Just a daily driver - no autocrosses,
but 1 ice race.)  I attribute it to simple ring and valve guide wear,
but I don't really know.  If you are getting tiny little wisps under AX
conditions, you may think about considering yourself fairly lucky. :)
