Until recently, I worked for a Mazda dealer, and yes I have seen ONE Miata
with a blown airbag, no twrecked. HOWEVER, this car had hit a curb pretty
hard, hard enough to bottom the car out badly enough to damage the subframe,
destroy the steering rack, and crack the differential housing. However, the
body was completely untouched, and the airbags should not have deployed in
this situation. Also, Mazda has a recall notice out on some Mazda 626's for
the airbag control unit to be reprogrammed. Seems the bag can blow from
being bottomed out. Hmmmmmm.
