Jeff, I think your X1/9 powered formula car will have to run A Mod vs B Mod
because you indicated it was a turbo motor. I know the rules said "any two
valve automotive based production engine", but you can tell from the weight
breaks that they're assuming normally aspirated. You'll also note the
comment that the car needs to be legal to the previous year GCR. That might
be where they get around to telling you that you can't run a turbo. As far
as Mike B's concern about it being a one-off, I don't think that would apply
to B Mod. It does apply to C Mod where cars have to be SCCA-listed. Would
it really matter if you ran A-Mod vs B-Mod? The car would probably be
equally un-competitive at a national level, and an absolute hoot to drive at
the regional level regardless of class. I played around with my Formula
Ford a couple years ago and made an A-Mod kit for it. I could possibly be
persuaded to part with the big overhead wing.
