I'm thinking about making the switch from autox to ITA (spec rx7) in the
near future.
I've been reading everything I can find on the internet but haven't found
anything regarding exactly what personal safety equipment is required and
what specs they must meet. Obvious items are a suit, helmet (SA-95?), shoes
and gloves but that's about all I've ascertained. Am I to assume that these
specs will be spelled out in the GCR? (I don't have one...yet)
I'm also compiling a startup and yearly cost list and want to know what I'm
missing or incorrectly figuring cost wise.
Startup:
($60) Become SCCA member and fill out paperwork.
--- personal safety equipment ---
($~200) Helmet
($??) Suit
($??) Shoes
($??) Gloves
--- the car ---
'81-85 Mazda RX-7
($??) Detailed mechanical manual
($??) More tools
($1000) SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Roll Cage, 5 Point Cam-Type Harness, Window Net

($120) Brake Pads
--- the training ---
($~150) First Drivers School
($~150) Second Drivers School
($55) Region Competition License
($~150) Race Entry Fees (most events will be at Road America and Blackhawk
Farms)
Yearly costs figuring 5 events/yr:
($60) membership dues
($750) Entry Fees @ $150/ea
($240) Brake Pad life (3 events?)
($200) Tire life (10 events?)
($??) oil changes
($??) brake fluid changes
($??) gasoline
($??) What about insurance???
If there are more applicable mailing lists that I should post this to please
let me know...is there a spec rx7 list?
Thanks all,
Jason
