Hmm.  If it has a latch, and is designed to be removed by the operator,
shouldn't it be a legal configuration in which to run the car?

Is mention in the owner's manual neccessary for it to be legal, or mention
in the factory service manual?

Is this removable mirror a gift to autoxers from BMW? It being removable
may constitute a performance advantage, but only over some cars and
drivers.  I can squish the rearview of my Miata R far enough up against
the windsheild header as to be almost invisible to me when I'm racing
compared to other miatas which have to push theirs sideways.
