12 point sockets are very useful tools. Many times, on late model
imports for example, the head bolts have, guess what? 12 points on
them. A 6 point socket won't fit. Plus 12 point fasteners are found
extensively on aircraft applications. Since 12 point sockets have
thinner walls they fit where 6 points won't go. My tool inventory
includes standard and metric deep and shallow 6 and 12 points. As
well as 6 point impacts. Please don't use "chrome" sockets on impact
tools. They damage fasteners and usually their human operators when
they explode.
