Chris,

Thanks for the feedback. I wonder this: Is your friend a racer? I'm
going to go out on a limb and say no. The probability you can extract the
performance/acceleration potential from that Honda on a test drive is
minimal. Do you think he went to 8500RPM where all the power is?

The number don't lie, the Boxter and the Z3 2.8 are not in the mid 5 second
0-60 range like the S2000. As far as the Boxter's competitiveness in AS, I
think the car is right in the middle. Taking one to Nationals, I feel,
would be it's downfall. The primary weakness of the car would be the large
sweeping corners that the 968 dominates on. It's primary strength would be
it's transitional skills and slaloming skills, of which there are few.

We shall see. BTW: Where does one drive an S2000 these days?

An associate from work who drove the Honda S2000, BMW Z3 2.8, and the
Porsche Boxter in a head-to-head comparison told me he ranked the
performance of the stock packages like this:
1st: Boxter
2nd: S2000
3rd: Z3 2.8

He said the Honda seems to be sprung more softly than the Boxter, but it
is still very nimble. My guess is that they will class it in AS where it
will be good competition for the Boxter, 968, etc. If the car is
unusually fast, then it might get bumped to SS (but I doubt it).
Anyway, all this is hear-say; so I don't know for sure.

Chris
